Justin Bieber fans raises 150,000 lbs of food for Food Banks: Long Island School gets a free concert.
Justin Bieber can bring in the canned ham. Literally. And his fans help him do it too. The winner of the 92.3 NOW canned Food Drive was announced on December 21 as the Long Beach Middle school – collecting 21,014 pounds.
Putting together a food bank drive to assist boost the inventory of other food banks in the Northeast Tristate area of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, the singer offered local schools a very clear challenge.
Justin Bieber told both middle and high schools students that the school bringing in the most food would be privy to a free concert by the 15-year-old pop star. More than 150 schools competed, giving the kids a chance to ask their communities for food to help others, and also for the chance to win the coveted prize for this very special contest.
And bring in food the kids did.
More than 150,000 pounds total came in the form of cans to help dozens of food banks and to give out an estimated 100,000 meals. The food will be distributed to food banks in the area for those who need a hand during the holidays.
It’s absolutely amazing what Justin Bieber fans can do.
While all the kids worked hard to bring in the food, there can be only one winner. This time it was Long Beach Middle School, proudly being able to put out there that Justin Bieber will be in their neck of the woods really soon. Can’t you already hear the girls screaming?
