Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun has confirmed that while Justin was only “joking” when he announced his retirement this week, his fans should make the most of him while they can as he will be taking a “break” away from the spotlight next year to “relax.”
Justin sent the world into a frenzy earlier this week when he joked in an interview with Power 106 that he would be retiring from music prematurely. While it was later confirmed to be a joke, Beliebers were still flooding Twitter with hysterical pleas for him to reconsider the hiatus.
Scooter tells BBC Newsbeat at the Believe premiere:
He said in the interview that he was kidding two seconds later.
Next year he is just taking a break to just make music and relax and take time to himself. It’s the first time [he's had a break] since he was 12.
He hasn’t taken time off since he was 12… he knows he wants it, and wants to spend time with this family. His younger brother and sister are starting to grow up and he doesn’t want to miss their childhood.
I think for his wellbeing at 19, 20 years old, [it’s good for him] to take time for himself, to figure out who he wants to be.
Justin’s taking ONE YEAR hiatus in 2014.
