Saskatoon radio station C-95 invited Bieber fans collected cans and packets of soup for the local food bank, offering tickets to a Justin Bieber concert for bringing in the most food.
Justin Bieber was set to perform in Saskatoon on Friday night, his second sold-out engagement in Saskatchewan. Leading up to the concert, fans were invited to give soup to the local food bank in a promotion dubbed “Feed It to Bieber.”
The challenge was to bring in the most cans or packets of soup, with the winner getting a pair of tickets to the show, including a back-stage meeting with the teen singing sensation from southwestern Ontario.
When the counting was done, some 21,000 cans and packets of soup had been collected.
The two contest winners rounded up 2,500 donations and were announced on radio station C-95.
“We’re not going to be the crazy fans, freaking out just because we see him,” contest winner Kayla Findlay, 18, said Friday before the show. “We want to find out how is he doing in school while being a pop star, and different questions like that.”
Findlay said it took 4½ days for her and a friend to collect the soup.
