Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus have been chosen as the most irritating people of the year 2013 in the UK.
According to the survey commissioned Ask.com, Justin Bieber‘s boy antics; spitting on fans and abandoning his pet monkey came top of the poll, with 36% of people saying he annoyed them. While Miss Cyrus‘s twerking performance with Robin Thicke at the VMA awards came a close second, with 35% of people objecting to her.
Other celebs to get on the nerves of the public over the past 12 months, include Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Harry Styles and Russell Brand – all of whom have a very active presence on social media.
A spokesman for Ask.com said:
There seems to have been plenty that got on our nerves this year from pop stars to politics. Perhaps it is because things seem flat after we had the Olympics and Jubilee in previous years that we found so many aspects of 2013 to be really annoying. The rise of social media also means that no matter how hard one tries to avoid Justin Bieber or the news of Simon Cowell’s impending fatherhood, it is simply not possible.

GQ Magazine has named Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and the president of the United States Barack Obama to its list of “25 least influential people of 2013:”
Here’s GQ Mag reasoning:
Justin Bieber: When you’re a just-legal megastar raising hell and being a brat, people will still give you a chance. They’ll blame the money and the fame and probably your parents. But once you lose the baby fat, there are no viable excuses. You are officially just a little shit for pissing in buckets and cursing out Bill Clinton and writing the exact wrong thing in the guest book at the Anne Frank house and spitting on people and having your monkey confiscated. Also, he dresses like a blind magician. One sign Bieber is no longer a cute pop star: He lost a PR war with the Germans, who confiscated his pet monkey.
Miley Cyrus: Didn’t we already go through this with Madonna, and Janet Jackson, and Britney, and Xtina, and that one video in which Alanis was naked on a subway with her hair in front of her boobs and it was really awkward for everyone? Miley spent the entire year foam-finger-blasting herself, licking sledgehammers, and basically trying every inane strategy she could think of to rile up America’s few remaining pearl clutchers. What’s sad is that it totally worked.
Was it fair of GQ to list Justin, Miley & President Obama as one of the least influential people of 2013?

Sinead O’Connor has admitted her headline hitting feud with Miley Cyrus last month has actually helped people discuss the music industry and it’s attitude to sex.
The 46-year-old Irish singer-songwriter was locked in a feud with Miley a month ago when she published a letter in which she admitted to being “concerned” for the young star and accused Miley of “allowing herself to be pimped” by the music industry.
Thankfully the feud is over and she admits the public nature of the debate can only have helped get her concerns out in the open.
And now, speaking to Time Magazine, Sinead says that the problem doesn’t just extend to female artists, but also male artist like Justin Bieber:
The music business is corrupt. It’s full of nothing but vampires and pimps. What was more important that came out of the Miley thing was being able to conversate about mental health and human rights. The two of us, without meaning to, did quite a good job.
In a way, music’s all been silenced.
That’s why I feel strongly about the oversexualizing of young women. As long as you’re visually distracted, you’re not really listening … Male artists too. Justin Bieber, he’s being sold on his sexuality, but he’s too young to even understand what’s going on.
Miley Cyrus appears in a parody of the infamous “Justin Bieber sleeping” video put out by Capital FM.
Miley appeared on the “Capital Breakfast Show” this week, after which the outlet posted a video in which she takes the place of Tati Neves, who recently filmed Justin as he slept during his visit to Brazil.
